With the Internet slowly maturing, Search Engine Optimization (SEO) is getting more popular because every business wants to be reached well on the Internet. Follow these 7 tips and it’s a surefire way for SEO success!
1. Buy an old site or domain
There are many documented processes and benefits of optimizing a website for search engines, but ultimately it takes time for a site to mature. You can spend 6 months to put together all the contents and build all the incoming links… but why not take the easier way out, and hunt for an old site? Not all of us have time on our side do we?
2. Optimize the Title
The title tag is the one most important thing you must optimize. Even if you don’t listen to anything else, make sure you optimize your title tags. Put your keywords for a page into the title tag, and keep the title short and readable. Make sure the title for each page is different.
3. Optimize the URL
It is best to keep your URLs static. Use the Apache ModRewrite to overcome this if you need to. While PageRank flows to URLs with parameters, it would be best never to have a URL with a question mark in it. Put your keywords in the URL, and keep it short (not too many nested subfolders) and descriptive so even human visitors will know what the page talks about before looking at the title.
4. Work on Your Site Architecture
Think of your site as a building. If you want the spiders to be able to be able to crawl into every room (page) of the site, then you will want to keep the structure of the site as simple as possible. By far, the best balance for a site architecture is a hierarchy structure, with a maximum of 3 levels deep. You don’t want spiders to get lost in your site. They get impatient easily.
5. Quality content
Quality content is the best link bait for your site, and it is also the most legitimate method and best method to get free quality incoming links for your site. Think about it, once you have page or article of quality content - it will be an asset forever! People who read your page have a tendency to link to it, creating free incoming links!
6. Submit Your Site to Directories
Submitting Your Site URL to web directories is one of the best ways to get your first incoming links, and getting your site indexed. Search for both general directories like DMOZ and Yahoo Directory as well as specialized directories in your niche.
7. Network!
Networking with fellow webmasters and people whom you already know have a website is one of the best ways to get incoming links. You can do so by participating in forums and commenting on blogs. Start to establish yourself as an authority in that field, and you will find the links coming in automatically!
